Introduction
The Internal Audit Unit of the Ministry of Youth and Sports was established in 1995. The Unit is directly responsible to the Secretary General, Ministry of Youth and Sports.
Vision
To make Internal Audit activities as the contributor towards the excellence in financial management and accountability.
Mission
To carry out audit in an effective manner and to produce an independent and objective report in order to enhance financial management and to establish the mechanism of good governance for the Ministry.
Objective
The objective of the Internal Audit is to assist the management in enhancing the financial management and compliance with laws, regulations and procedures.
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Roles
Internal Audit is an independent body that provides assurance and consultative advisory services in an objective manner to add value and to enhance the operation of the organization. The scopes of the Internal Audit Unit are stated in the Treasury Circular No. 9 Year 2004.
Authority
The Internal Audit authority covers all Divisions/Branches in the Ministry, National Youth and Sports Department, State Youth and Sports Department, National Youth Vocational Institutes, Malaysian Youth Development Academy and statutory bodies under the governance of the Ministry.
Internal Audit Achievement
Internal Audit Unit had implemented all its activities/audits as planned for the year 2007 including a special audit under the directive of Secretary General of Ministry of Youth and Sport (Table 1).
